Description

Tools: Pencil for sketching/lineart, PS CS5 for coloring.
Time: ~20 hours.

Finally finished the cover of my upcoming art book, "Etchings"!

The digital coloring process took me a long time because of that darn ctrl+z letting my OCD take over and re-do everything again and again. It's really both a blessing and a curse OTL;;

I tried to achieve a slightly painted effect in certain areas and go beyond just cell shading, but it was pretty difficult on PS. This was also my first time trying to draw a real tree, and my god it was hard. But overall, I learned a lot during the process of this drawing ;u;

:star: There's two more days left to pre-order "Etchings"!

The concept itself is wonderful: a young lady painting the world to life, filled with beauty and special interesting things, like the butterfly globes (with fireflies too maybe?), the great vines, and very lovely birds. I love the tree, especially that it's unfinished and is just enough extra to make the idea crystal clear.

The girl herself is beautiful as well, and obviously very patient and awed to be doing such wonderful work, so detailed too. And then it seems like some of the life she's created has "spilled" onto her too, giving her a nice crown of clover plus a dab of life or two on her dress. Great work on the pose too, along with how she's holding so many brushes in her left hand to keep switching so she gets every detail right.
