From the moment I saw the Final Fantasy XIII trailers over a year ago, I've been counting down to its US release...which definitely won't be any time soon OTL;; Not to mention I don't have a console to play it on. Even with the price drop, PS3's are still too expensive. But if there is a will, there is a way! *sells liver*

For those who haven't seen the trailers, you've got to watch it (for the hot girl, hot guy, big swords, and the massive amount of of hack and slash): [link] and [link]

I'm a big Square junkie so I've been itching to draw Lightning (girl) and Noctis (guy) for awhile, but just never got around to it. I figured that since I've never really drawn swords, I'd give it a whirl here... /headdesk.

Leave it to SE to design the most ungodly complicated weapon designs ever. There are about 3-4 picture references total on their swords since the game hasn't been released yet, so it was hell trying to figure out the orientation of all the teensy mechanical parts orz;;

Other than that, the cracks on the wall were reaaaally fun to do. And no that's not a giant gaping black hole in the wall; it's his cape.

This is an overall, BEAUTIFUL piece of work. The smoothness and depth of the coloring will just completely leur the viewer in. The mechanism on the man's shoulder is exceptionally detailed, and Im not sure how you got copics to shade such little areas! Cartoongirl7 truly is the mastermind of detail work!

Here's the downside. The man's face is a little too small for his bulky upper torso. and it's probably just style, but there could have been more shadowing on the nose, because only coloring the nostrils makes the nose appear really small and pudgy, but with females its ok because they tendto have smaller noses.

Another thing is the woman's legs. There's very little shape and defiance to the thighs and knees so there could have been alot more porportioning done over there.

Overall, this image SCREAMS cartoongirl7, and is top-notch shen it comes to the smooth details, and exhuberant coloring! Beautiful work, as always!

I got SO excited seeing this in my inbox. The detail is evident from far away and the off-center composition is really something awesome!

The outstanding strengths in this piece, in my opinion, are the transparent cloth, the stone/crack work, and the poses. I really enjoy the way you implied the shadows on the sword behind the cloth, it boggles me how you can imply that with COPiCs! The stone also looks fantastic and the poses are very dynamic. ACK, the whole thing is so beautiful that I can't bear writing a critique on it, but if you're looking for it, I figure I can offer a few things I think would make it even better!

This first thing might seem trivial, but you have two different "wind sources". xD I understand that you probably wanted to have Noctis' clothing moving dynamically in the portion of the picture where it can be seen clearly, but it's moving in a different direction than Lightning's hair, cloak, and the scarf tied to her sword. Perhaps you could've edited the poses so that you could show more of the Prince so that everything'd be moving in one direction. Again! That's a TINY thing, and I'm SURE the majority of viewers would never see it. xD But it's little things like that you realize after the fact, that make you go *doh*--I've done it pleeeenty of times before, believe me.

In terms of color harmony, Noctis is getting a little lost against the stone work...next time, maybe try a different variety of grey, or maybe tint it with a different color? Maybe Noctis' clothing would even look nice with a slight slate blue tint or something? That's totally an opinion thing and definitely not an error, but Lightning stands out so nicely that Noctis could use a bit of emphasis.

This is a gooorgeous piece, my dear, and I hope you do another one of those print-packs post-AX so that I can buy from you again...your stuff makes my dorm bulletin board so pretty! <3 I hope that was a fair assessment and I am still a huge fan of yours, keep up the amazing work.
