Teaching at DAcademy

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 10, 2009, 7:29 PM
  • Mood: Devious
  • Listening to: Pokemon Platinum bg music
  • Playing: Pokemon Platinum, Suikoden Teirkreis, Disgaea DS
  • Eating: Copic nibs
  • Drinking: Copic ink

Last week I sent in an application to DAcademy to be a lecturer….and yesterday I got a note back saying that I’ve been accepted! I am be very honored to be helping out :’DDD

The big question now is...what do you guys want to learn about from me? (If anything at all LOL OTL;; )

Many of you guys may have heard about DAcademy already, founded by :iconendling: and :iconarteche:, by now.
If you haven't, DACAD is a virtue classroom right here in dA chatrooms that hosts a series of art lectures and Q&A sessions with various artists who are interested in sharing their knowledge. In between these scheduled events, the chatroom will be home to general discussions about art and artists, and a source of valuable advice and critique for those who seek it.

There will be many various lessons taught by appointed lecturers such as myself and even `Endling himself. If I were you, I wouldn’t miss the chance to hear the man talk *fangirls*. Everyone is welcomed to join!

There are about 10 or so lecturers so far, and I believe all of them are digital artists except for me. I applied as a traditional artist specializing in markers and a few other hands-on mediums. I know I'm definitely not the most qualified person out there to teach anyone, but I want to help out as much as I can. I will be preparing lecturers (which would take place in the DACAD chatroom on dA) with pictures to supplement what I’m talking about, similar to my Copic tutorials, except with more material and tips!

Again, my question is: What would you guys want to hear or learn about? I obviously can’t teach everything (for example, I wouldn't be able to talk about oil painting to save my life), but I have a decent enough amount of experience in pencils, inking, color pencils, airbrushing, and markers.

Just blast me with suggestions of what you’d be interesting in hearing from me, if anything, and I’ll address that in a lesson if possible. I'll update with the time and date of lectures when I get it scheduled in case any of you guys want to pop in and listen.

:star: For more DAcademy information, go here to `Endling's journal: [link]

:star: Finally, here is the DACAD chatroom where lectures will be held at. You can drop in anytime to ask questions and get critiques! [link]

I may hold a few separate and smaller Q&A sessions in my own chatroom from time to time, in addition to the larger scheduled ones for DAcademy. I'll keep you guys posted with lecture times!

I'd be interested in the materials. Like, where the heck do you get copic markers? D8 I can't find them anywhere, and when I ask people who have some, they don't know because they got it from someone else, or they got them off the internet. -.-; Or what paper to use.

Congratulations! If anyone deserves this, it is definitely you. It’s very nice of you to keep taking time out to provide help to other artists.
I always find your copic tutorials useful, so I think that would be a good topic to go with. Maybe more on how you do skin tones? That would certainly help out a lot of people.

My greatest problem is to find inspiration. I know it's not a think you can learn, but I'd like a few tips about it :) .

Awesome! :D I think it would be interesting if you could offer tips for shading, it's one of the hardest things for me to do! I'll end of reading all tutorials on traditional art anyway..... Congratulations! I'm sure you'll do well at it! :D

Hmm, it would be helpful if you could tell us about how to make beautiful backgrounds with Copic Markers. :3
